Arshavin option looked at

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona will gain information on a possible transfer of Zenit Saint Petersburg forward and Russian international Andrei Arshavin (27).

With difficult negotiations on left wing options David Silva and Alexander Hleb, Barcelona now wants to see if it's realistic to push for Arshavin. They will sound out the player and his club to know more about the possibility and the conditions of an eventual transfer operation.

Russian national team assistant coach and former Barcelona player Igor Korneev is quoted by the paper as saying to journalists: "He has more than enough qualities to play in the Spanish league and my dream is that he will be the next Russian to wear the Barcelona shirt. In a 4-3-3 he can both play on the left and on the right."

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has been following Arshavin for a while and has several scouting reports on the player. Until now the club didn't try to transfer the Russian attacker, who has a contract with Zenit until 2010.

How about ...? 1 Selling Henry to MLS 2 Signing Arshavin (before other big clubs strike a deal) 3 Signing one of the centre forwards on the list

I agree on selling Henry, he's over. Get Arshavin for the left, get Guiza to be the back-up for Eto'o (together with Bojan) and that's it!

Not only it will work better, it won't be more expensive than getting Adebayor and a left winger and selling Eto'o.

Groga, you are absolutely spot on!

I dont understand why you want to get rid off Henry if he was 2nd top scorer for barca and he didnt even played on his possition. I think if you place Henry middle farward he will bang twice as much goals as he did last season.

I can see Arshavin playing the left wing in a 4-3-3. But where would he fit in a 4-3-1-2? Guardiola's already stated he wants a tall, back to the goalkeeper type forward upfront to partner with Henry. That doesn't sound like Arshaving to me. Barcelona lack height and that arial threat upfront. A component that is sorely missing on the club.

get him and pavlyuchencko experience together for russia both good players and both could probably be got for less than adebayor.
(its no wonder arshavin's teams have won uefa cup and russia looking strong in euros, not saying its just him but he is a key component)

Did any of your guys watch Henry before barca decided to play him out of position?? and not play him every game! He needs to be the focus point of the team. Not just a bit part player. You have the best centre forward in the world and are playing him out of position. The players you've been linked with ain't in the same league as henry or eto'o. Arshavin maybe, the rest gomez, berbatov,, adebyour and benzima - no, no, no and no! Just stick with Henry buy Arshavin for backup and offload eto'o.
