Chygrynskiy only option as centre-back

Both main Catalan sports papers claim that Shakhtar Donetsk defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chygrynskiy (22) is the main transfer target of Barcelona at this moment.

Catalan sports paper
Sport claims that Barcelona wanted to launch a final offensive for the defender yesterday, but decided to postpone everything one day because of Shakhtar's elimination in the Champions league on Wednesday.

Based upon reports in the Ukrainian press, the paper claims that Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu asked yesterday for a meeting with his club's sports director and president to discuss the situation after the elimination. Lucescu would want Chygrynskiy to leave and could advise his president to lower the asking price. Barcelona hopes that a previous offer of 18 million euro° will now be accepted.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola is absolutely crazy about Chygrynskiy and sees him as the only option to strenghten the centre-back position. Barcelona could even accept that the Ukrainian plays the European Super Cup with Shaktar on 28 August before joining Barcelona. Shaktar is reported to be asking at this moment 25 million euro°, while Barcelona would want to pay a maximum of 20 million euro°.

This is crazy! How many times have Guardiola seen this Chygrinsky? How many times have Guardiola seen other similar defenders in Europe? Does he have the overview of all defenders in Europe and have concluded that only Chygrynsky is the right one, or doesn't he have much knowledge about defenders, and only saw Chygrynsky play against us and thought he looked good?

They have scputs that draw up detailled reports. If Guardiola wants him, who are we to say the opposite?

Judging from the defenders we have brought in under Guardiola, why should we trust him?

fcbee, you are another one of those people i love.you know where your position stands.not like others here.
anony from above,what about pique?

Because he lead us to the treble, maybe? Don't be so negative, you're over-reacting.

1 out of 3 Tengku. And the most expensive ones like Caceres and Henrique were huge flops. This Chygrynsky will be another expensive one.

He is a fantastic coach, fcbee, but his ability on the transfer market has not been good.

How many times have you sen Chygr to say he will be a flop? And who cares about flops if we win trophies? Some people are always looking for something to complain about...

P.S Take a nickname, Anony.

I haven't seen him play, only highlights from last game he played. He looked slow and very clumsy. But look at the way Caceres and Henrique settled in. Will Pep realize after two practices that Chygrynsky is not good enough either?

the only reason why anony's don't like nicknames is because they are afraid of what people will call them when their opinions clearly suck(ed).

Thanks for the nick, Xaaaavi, makes things a little clearer, too much anonymous guys gets confusing sometimes.

Henrique wasn't a Guardiola transfer, like Keirrison. Those guys came from that weird co-operation with Traffic: let's hope Barcelona people aren't filling their own pockets there....

Caceres was a flop and an expensive one. Although it's good they have realized it quickly and have now opened the way to Juve. If they would have waited for one more year, that clause wouldn't have been 11+1 but maybe 5+1. I don't know Chygrynskiy so I won't judge on him, just say that every transfer is a risk. No club always hits the nail.

To Anony #1

You think you know better than Pep and the staff? They have their reasons to buy and luckily they are the ones to make the decision, not you.

Ferguson bought Ronaldo after he saw him in Sporting played against Man U.

Haven't seen him play, and dont know about u guys but is this guy realy worth it?

This guy better be good as Vidic or I commit suicide, im so afraid of that we paying 15-20€ and he flops..

I think Gaurdi is thinking of using Chygrynskiy as a CD and a DMC. Getting him will solve two problems. If we get Mata as well then we would have solved all our problems. I just hope that Jeffren and Pedro aren't left out in the cold.

saying that Caceres and Henrique were flops, then what about Pique and Daniel Alves they were bought under the reign of Guardiola and they were excellent, people just criticize Caceres and Henrique when they dont mention the good Pique and Alves

There is great belief in the squad and project. We have an amazing spine that has been with the club for many years.

There are no guarantees in life. No one can predict for certain if Ibra will be a success or not but we should not judge and convict him before he kicks a ball. If Pep wants Chygrynskiy and gets him lets trust his judgement. I think he could be a good buy but lets wait and see.

I would rather be positive about things than always negative even if I didn't agree with the Ibra signing doesn't mean I don't love the club or wont support it.

Im a little confused. Does the fact that Chyg has been eliminated from the champions league mean that he can now play with barca in the CL or not?? HELP!

Manolo said...

Anonymous just get a name ffs!

He can't play for us in the CL.
He can play with us in the league and Copa though, wich is better cuz there is much more matches in the league+Copa than CL.

goal.com says chyg has approached the club to let him talk to pep.. and the coach is also ready..so it seems like we are getting him soon...

I honestly believe EVERY transfer that involves a player coming in from a different league is a RISK. Chygrynskiy IS a risk , Just like Ibrahimovic is a risk (For the amount we paid for him). Becuase these players will take time to settle. For example : David Villa would be a MUCH MUCH safer bet than buying Ibra, because hes been playing in Spain his whole career whereas ibra will almost definitely require time to settle in. Although at 100% i would prefer Zlatan to Villa any day of the week. Better Technique , Stronger in the air , and will in help in smashing the bus AGAIN. (chelsea) lol.
On a personal note , i have seen Chyg a couple of times.. but its too early to judge how he will perform. But ppl trust the manager who got us the treble. Hes a footballing genius. He discarded the 2 players that won us the CL 2006 and still won everything. HE knows his shit. :) Peace !

it absolutely boggles my mind when people judge a player based on highlights. there is a commenter above who says he looks clumsy and slow from the highlights with him in them...let me explai0n something to you. a highlight is where someone gets close to goal. its one of the few moments where they get close to goal, theres a reason you watch these clips instead of others, its because they are out of the ordinary. of course the defender is going to look stupid in a highlights vid wtf are you expecting? footage of him positioned well to intercept danger before it happens? im not saying hes good or hes bad, just that what you are saying is stupid if you judge him based on highlights.

Thats what happens when we get rid of "not worthy" CB. Caceres is better than any of the Juveniles but we loan him for some silly reason and if we do loan Henrique... then we will be really silly. Sure lets get rid of the positions we need, when the people we are loaning are considered one of the best in those positions, and just wish nothing bad happens to the 2 or 3 we have left for a really long campaing.
caceres and Henrique might not be 1st team yet... but they are really good CB and they would had proven it .. but I guess we will never know...
