Barcelona central defender Gerard Piqué made yesterday his debut with the Spanish national team. Spain defeated England 2-0.
Piqué was satisfied with his game: "I felt very comfortable all game long. With the squad we have, everything seems easy. It's nice to play in a team that has so much quality. Playing at the back, you have time to enjoy everything what is happening.
I want to thank the fans for their support. In the city of Sevilla there's always a special atmosphere, the team is supported during the whole match. We hope to return to live the same atmosphere again."
Piqué played the whole game, as did Barcelona attacker Andrés Iniesta. Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets stayed on the bench and didn't made his debut with the Spanish national team. Barcelona attacking midfielder Xavi gave the free-kick assist for the second Spanish goal and was replaced in the 85th minute.
