Both main Catalan sports papers claim today that Barcelona has decided not to make anymore transfers after Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola met yesterday in Kraków hours before the Champions League match against Wisla.
Guardiola made clear he's very happy with the current squad and thinks he has all he needs to start the season. The club was interested in signing a player for the left wing who has scoring ability and international experience and who shouldn't cost more than 20 million euro but the names put forward by Txiki didn't convince the coach and both agreed on not buying another player.
Catalan sports paper Sport claims that, besides the usual suspects, Arsenal winger and Dutch international Robin van Persie (25) and Lyon attacking midfielder and Swedish international Kim Källström (26) were the latest names that were discussed.
Both Sport and El Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona could nevertheless well enter the transfer market next January and sign one of the players that were being looked at this summer.

would still have liked to have seen a LFW come but if pep is happy then i guess we are ready. surely this year we cant get the ame injury crisis of the last few years. messi deserves a full year to show everyone how great he is, same with yaya and henry. glad pedro will get more first team football, just hope people dont expect him to be great straight away.
just like to say thanks to pep for doing this great blog, reckon we've been the most informed fans of transfer rumours this summer! now for news on barca - injuries,youth performances, etc!!
I'm taking that suggestion with me, k-1. I'll get the injury report thing going indeed, good idea sjp. And I'll try to have match reports on Barcelona Atlètic. I started to follow them more a few months ago and once you know more about it, it's actually great fun and interesting. I'm sure some will like to follow the second team through the season.
Tomorrow or Friday I'll have an evaluation topic where you can all give your opinion on the blog.
And by the way: I'm sure the first rumours for the January transfer period will be out pretty soon...
...i don't give anything bout what comes now...but think,no player...nothing to win...time will tell...can't believe for good...think pep is wrong and short of experience...he will be shown at our costs...the maybe disappointed fans...i think there's too little bad-to-good-game-changing quality in the squad...but,...time will tell...
Wise decision by Barcelona. No need for any knee-jerk last minute signings at this point. Plus with the money saved that should mean more money in the kitty for additions next summer (i.e. Benzema)
Plus let's not forget that Barcelona have to make a decision as to wether they are going to renew Eto'o's contract, in addition to wrapping up Puyol, Xavi, Valdes (please God no!) and possibly Marquez (although I suspect this will be his final season at the club. So as you can see Barcelona won't be finished splashing out the cash even if new additions aren't added to the club in it's immediate future.
I also strongly believe this is going to be Henry's final season at the club despite the fact he's got two years left on his contract.
I also wouldn't be surprised in the least if Henry were made "available" during the January transfer window as some team's "Larsson" who feel his addition is what they need to take them over the top. At least I suspect he will be more in demand in January than he is now - barring a slow start or injuries.
This would also "clear" the way for another striker (Benzema) to join the club next summer.
