British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona is preparing a 17,3 million euro bid for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso (26) (read more here).
The Spanish international, who is losing the battle with Mascherano and Leiva for midfield places, would want to wait until the summer before deciding on his future. After an injury, Alonso has fallen out of favour with manager Rafael Benítez. In Barcelona he should replace Portuguese playmaker Deco (30), who could be leaving in the summer.

No way worth this money, besides he's past his best.
With Tour'e, Chavi and Iniesta in the squad, he won't get much opportunities.
I wouldn't like to see him come either. We maybe will need a substitute for Touré if Edmilson leaves (although mMarquez and Iniesta can play that position too) but for that money we can get a beter one.
