British newspaper The Independent claims that Barcelona midfielder and Portuguese international Deco (30) is close to agreeing personal terms with English Premier League Chelsea (read more here).
With Barcelona asking 20 million euro° for the player, a deal between the two clubs nevertheless doesn't seem as close. Jorge Mendes, Deco's agent, is negotiating with Barcelona trying to convince them to reduce the fee. Chelsea would be willing to pay 13 million euro°.
Inter Milan would als be reluctant to pay the fee demanded by Barelona and has therefore set their sights on trying to land Chelsea's Frank Lampard. Inter manager José Mourinho meanwhile suggested in Brazil to journalists that he hasn't yet given up on the Portuguese midfielder:
"I cannot forget Deco, Lampard and Drogba. I am not nostalgic but I really like those three players, they helped me win some great titles. These are players who I could never say no to. I would love to work with them again in the future, but I am not too obsessed with this idea. I don't know which of these three will leave their clubs but we will see."

20 million euro =

16 million british pound
13 million euro =
20 million us dollar
10 million british pound
everyone knows that chelsea have money to burn, if they want him make them pay, plus villa's price has gone up during the euros because of good performances and deco's played better for portugal than he did for us all season! make em pay
Hell yeah, make those bastards pay. Don't drop the asking fee for god sake!
I think if Chelsea offer two million more the deal will get done. I believe Barcelona never realistically expected to get 20mil for him, but were thinking of 15mil all along. 15mil is a fair price.
I'm am so tired of the hypocrisy! barca always pays up for the players they want and when someone wants to buy a player from us they whine and complain that the fee is too high. Pay up or shut up! Barca should take negotiation classes from Jose Maria Del Nido so they can get top dollar for their player sales. Deco 20M euros Ronnie 30 M euros Eto 40M euros. No less than that will be acceptable!
Keep in mind that Del Nido's situation with Alves and Keita were totally different. They were two players in high demand, (Alves especially),and younger than Deco, 24, 28 respectively. And coming off individually successfull seasons. That's a BIG difference from Deco's situation given his age, 30, and the fact that he was missing in action for half the season. Plus it became widely known that he was becoming a disruptive force in the locker room. So what team is going to pay top dollar for a 30yr. old malcontent coming off a horrible season? I agree Del Nido's a shrewd business man, but he's also got the talent available to do it!
Well after Mourinho's latest comments on Barcelona, I'm not if Barcelona should play ball entirely on handing him Deco on a plate. My suggestion would be to wait until Lampard makes his mind up, and sell him to the team that he's not playing for, as they should be a bit more desperate to close a deal (my theory probably has loopholes lol)
