Could Barcelona pick up a player from Zaragoza?

With Zaragoza relegated to Segunda División and having a debt of over 100 million euro, it's clear the club will have to sell players in the summer.

Like a lot of other clubs Barcelona is following the events in Zaragoza, looking for the possibility to pick up a player for a good price, like they did when current left back defender Sylvinho was transfered from relegated Celta Vigo for only 2 million euro° back in 2004.

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that strikers Diego Milito and Sergio García are for sale. Barcelona has in the past been linked several times with Zaragoza forward Diego Milito (28) (read more here), the older brother of Barcelona central defender Gabriel Milito.

The Argentian has a buyout fee of 100 million euro°, although Zaragoza is believed to have verbally agreed with the player that they will accept an offer between 15 and 20 million euro°. Catalan sports paper Sport nevertheless claims that Barcelona is not planning to make a bid for Diego Milito because they consider that price still be too high.

Palacio fears Barcelona media pressure

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Boca Juniors forward and Argentinian international Rodrigo Palacio (26) has asked his agent Roberto Depietri to give priority to offers coming from clubs with a lower profile than Barcelona.

Despite talks between officials from Barcelona and Boca Juniors in the last days during which both parties came closer to a deal (read more here), the Argentian striker wouldn't be ready to deal with the media pressure he would feel when joining Barcelona. Palacio is known to be a very shy person, who gives almost never interviews and who had already problems with his football boots sponsor because he didn't want to participate in promotional acts.

Although clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Juventus and Lyon are interested in Palacio, the player has made clear to his agent that, if he will leave Argentinia, he will only accept to go to Spain. Besides Barcelona, Sevilla and Villareal would be following the forward. Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Sevilla will use 20 million euro° of the transfer fee they will receive for right back defender Daniel Alves, to launch a bid for Palacio.

Asked about the rumours saying that future Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola could take the player with him to the first team (read more here), Barcelona B midfielder Víctor Sánchez (20) said in an interview with Catalan sports paper Sport that all this is not distracting him and that he's now focusing on the promotion play-offs (read more here):

"That I would be one of the players with the most options to make the step to the first team, that's something that was published in the papers, you always hear that kind of rumours. I'm playing now for Barça B and I'm only thinkig about the promotion. We'll see later what will happen next year. At this moment I know nothing about that and nobody from the club has talked about the issue with me."

Xabi Alonso other candidate to replace Deco

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Liverpool midfielder and Spanish international Xabi Alonso (26) is one of the candidates to replace Barcelona midfielder Deco (30), who will leave Barcelona in the summer (read more here).

Alonso has lost his key role in the Liverpool team this season and would therefore be ready to listen to offers during the coming transfer window. Over the last years Xabi's name has been linked several times with Barcelona, the club for which his father Periko Alonso played between 1982 and 1985.

Racing Santander central defender Ezequiel Garay will not play for Barcelona as of next season, like had been rumoured over the last months (read more here).

Real Madrid has signed Garay for six seasons and will pay Santander 10 million euro°. The Argentinian defender will nevertheless keep on playing with Santander next season as he'll be loaned back to his current club for one year.
