The English Premier League club would want to make Barcelona a bid of 22 million euro° for the striker whose contract expires in 2010, while they would offer Eto'o a year salary of around 7 million euro.
Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Liverpool would also have been interested in Eto'o but would not be planning a bid this summer because they cannot afford to pay a transfer fee and the player's salary of 7,5 million euro a year.

Barcelona interest in Cesc makes Arsenal spend
Brtish tabloid Mail on Sunday claims that Barcelona is still interested in Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (21) and that Arsenal wants to sign a top player this winter to convince the player to stay.
With talks on Cesc's future due this summer, the signing of Russian attacker Arshavin should also help to convince the Catalan midfielder that the English Premier League club has the potential to attract big names and to compete for the trophies in the future.
The tabloid claims that Cesc is the player Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola wants for next season and they have already tried to sign him, when director Marc Ingla met with Arsenal director Ken Friar last summer. And with Barcelona enjoying a good period, it is believed in Barcelona that Guardiola's special relationship with Cesc could now tempt him back to his former club.

Sylvinho would consider Celtic offer
Asked about the rumours linking him with Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow (read more here), Barcelona left back defender Sylvinho (34), whose contract expires at the end of the season, has said in an interview with British tabloid Scottish Mail on Sunday that such a move could certainly be an option for him:
"If there was an official offer, and we could agree terms, then I would be very, very excited about a move to Glasgow. If there are people at Celtic who think well of me as a footballer, then I'm pleased.
I still have a really good relationship with Barcelona and I love it here. But I have still got a lot to offer in football terms on the pitch, not just as a squad member. Let's just wait and see what happens."

There's Lampard again...
British newspaper The Mail on Sunday is again linking Barcelona with Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard (29). The player’s contract expires in June 2009 and without a renewal in the coming months a new FIFA ruling would enable Barcelona to sign Lampard at the end of the current season for 6,8 million euro. The appointment of former Chelsea manager José Mourinho as the successor of Frank Rijkaard could be a crucial element.
