Berbatov alternative for Adebayor

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that the complicated negotiations with Arsenal on the transfer of Arsenal forward and Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor (24) have made Barcelona turn its attention again to Tottenham forward and Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov (27) (read more here).

The tabloid says that Barcelona is offering 20 million euro° for Adebayor while Arsenal is asking a transfer fee of 35 million euro°, a price that Barcelona will not and cannot pay. If Arsenal doesn't concede, Barcelona will focus on other players.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is planning to pay 30 million euro° for Adebayor but that Arsenal doesn't settle for that. A deal would nevertheless be close. Berbatov and Stuttgart forward and German international Mario Gómez (22) are the alternative options in case a deal fails.

The talks with the player would be well-advanced and Adebayor is waiting in his home country for the sign saying he can return to Europe and conclude the deal.

Forget about Adebayor, he's very close to Milan now. They have put a €30M bid to Arsenal and probably even raised it, so a deal will soon be closed.

Adebayor prefers Milan and not Barcelona as the Spanish media want us to believe.

Thank god, I'm so happy that we not are going to sign him. I would prefer Berbatov any day of the week.

I would prefer Mario Gomez instead of both Adebayor and Berbatov. First reason is his price which will significantly drop after his under-performing in Euro 2008 but player shouldn't be judged by 2 games.
Second reason is his age - 22 is less than 25 and 27 and provides very much space for his further development.
Compared to mentioned two, I think that his strength is maybe little below Ade's and his technique little below Berba's but he is faster than those two and excellent in air. Besides, Ade and Berba cannot be compared with him in defense and midfield contribution. IMHO, if Barca is mentioned, Stuttgard would be willing to let him go for somewhere around 20-23M €. Landing either Ade or Berba would take 10M more so...
Also, most important, unlike those two, MG has, on several occasions, clearly expressed his wish to join his favorite club - guess which...
Don't forget that he managed to score so much despite playing in a team like Stuttgard (no offense anyone) - 2 classes below Arsenal or Tottenham. (Then again, German league cannot be compared to Premier League, but anyway).
Alternatives - since Zlatan is unobtainable, i see only Huntelaar as an option, but he hasn't yet been mentioned, even as a rumor.
However, FCB's new striker is a very complicated matter. Question that also remains is Eto'o. Maybe it would be smart to keep him for 1 more season and than let him go and splash out for "The attacker" - Benzema (Speed, Technique, Strength, Attraction, even versatility - LW, RW, ST). In any case, better than unloading him now for a 25-30M €.

Omg, just dont this lazy Berbatov. He is not good enough to play for Barca, that would be a huge mistake which we would regret. If you want to sell Eto'o dont be "jewish" and buy Adebayor for even 35M. The best possible solution. Mario Gomez is maybe younger but thats all, would be a 2-3x worse striker then Sammu.

(Spurs fan) Berby is lazy, but pure class, whether you get him for 30 million euro is another question. Does seem like he's gone, either to yourselves or man u. As for Gomez i would be gutted if spurs had him instead of Berby, not in the same league.

Thanks for that comment. You think he could handle being centre forward in a 4-3-3 where he has little space to move? Henry had/has difficulties dealing with that.

i agree with mario gomez, or how about podolski.
he's good, either as a striker or left winger
i don't if he's also cheap
but munchen already has toni and klose
