Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona was interested in Atlético Madrid midfielder José Manuel Jurado (23) earlier this summer (read more here).
Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would a few months ago have held a couple of meetings with the player's agent to discuss a possible transfer.
Atlético Madrid was reportedly willing to sell Jurado, who played last season on loan with Mallorca and whose contract expires next summer, for 6 million euro°. The deal in the end didn't go through.

Could be good back-up, get him next season for free. Well, if they think Thiago and Jonathan aren't ready that is.
i kinda have a thing for jonathan. i believe in that guy. he's gonna be great in that position.
i've seen jurado in the EURO- U21 and i was really really impressed i must say, u guys can watch the highlights of the SPAIN VS ENGLAND U21, he was awesome... plus he was a madrid youth product and that will piss him off :p
