FC Barcelona have rediscovered the mythical half-and-half design of the club's centenary for the new home shirt that has been introduced for the 2008/09 the 2008/09 campaign, while the away shirt is yellow. The new kits were presented on Wednesday on the pitch at Camp Nou at midday with the change of look for the Blaugrana's goalkeeper's outfit too.

Blaugrana either side
Nike and Barça have chosen to make a complete change for the home shirts with the stripes being done away with and two halves of blau and grana being introduced as a nod to the club's centenary shirt of ten seasons ago.

Barça hymn included
Next season's shirts will incorporate the senyera once again with the club motto 'mès que un club' on the rear of the collar above the labels. There is another major details, however, with the Barça hymn being printed out on the inside of the shirt. The word Barça is also imprinted throughout the shirt.

Yellow away kit
While the home shirt mirrors the 199 jersey, the away top pays homage to the team of 1974. Next season's away colours for the team will be a bright yellow with a blaugrana stripe down the side that the crest of the club is on.

Security tags
In order to try and avoid forgeries and fakes finding their way into unsuspecting customers' hands this year, Nike have introduced a label in the lower left side of the garment that is a technological innovation that can tell whether the shirt is genuine or not.

Club president Joan Laporta was present for the presentation of all the new kits along with some directors, and Nike executive Albert Baronet.

Modelling assignment
Three Barça youth team players donned the new 2008/09 kits on Wednesday afternoon. Marc Muniesa, Adrià Carmona and Rubén Miño all became models for the day. Muniesa came out to applause in the new home kit, while Carmona donned the yellow away shirt and Miño was dressed in the black goalkeepers outfit.

The first time you see it, it's always ugly, but after a month everyone is used to it and in ten years we're all look back at these shirts with nostalgia...

It always looks far better if a first team member wears it, nothing to worry about.

The away shirts are okay, but the home ones suck!

Rock the kit, and be proud of it. Forca Barca!

The home kit has a very retro feel to it. I like it. Interestingly, looking for something to wear I pulled on one of the pre-UNICEF home shirts the other day. I'd forgotten how cool those were/are.

ya i could give a shit less what they look like, its football not a fashion show, but those yellow ones go fed in the paint, the homes are a little weak but like that guy said, Messi wearing these will look so badass

home kit is so simple..yet..so beautifol...i really like it...

away kit is preety much the same as that fluorscent 3 seasons ago..

and no matter what they look like...they are far better than those simple ugly white that those fascist madrid players are wearing...

In my opinion the home kit should NEVER EVER be changed except for when adding a commemorative crest like they did last year around the badge. The blue and claret stripes are synonymous with the club and are known worldwide among football fans. I HATE it when Nike decides to go with "half and half" color jerseys! Just keep the bloody damn traditional stripes!

As far as the away kit goes it has a "retro" theme to it and would look a lot nicer if the "UNICEF" logo wasn't on there. It's the logo that realy takes away from the shirt otherwise I think it's a definite upgrade over last year's kit which made the players seem like they were running around in a bunch of pajamas!

Oh my they are horrendous! Both of them!!!
And the patch containing the hymn is quite substantial, I bet that's gonna itch in neck area.
I'm not gonna buy this design (unless they win the CL, in which case it'd b historic).
