Catalan sports paper Sport reports that Barcelona is currently looking to sign a right back defender who could act as back-up for Barcelona right back Alves.
This would allow Carles Puyol to focus on his role as central defender now that the transfer of Chygrynskiy didn't go through (read more here).
Barcelona would already have received several proposals and is now in the process of analyzing the options. Although most of the players who are being offered don't fit the profile looked for, the club would be confident that they will be able to add a new right back to the squad soon.

lol so they wanted a centerback and couldnt get one, so they try and go for a rightback?????? doesnt make sense !
Why don't they just count on Montiya, who looked really talented and mature during the Wembley cup.
Iam amazed how it took us three months to realise that we need a right fulback behind alves!! it would be good if we can move for ROD fanni he plays in Rennes in france and is a french international..he is much less technical than alves but very very good defensivly (better than abidal on the left back!!) , the thing is that if he plays instead of alves whe should absolutly play with maxwell instead of abidal otherwise it would be like playing with four central back!!
We were always sure we need a right full-back... Only Pep so wanted Chyhrynskiy to be in the squad that he wanted Puyol to be cover for Alves. Now that Chyhrynskiy is out of question Puyol's gonna be the regular starter at CB and we DO need some one to cover Alves.
Ideally speaking I would be content with Henrique, buying a new CB/CDM like Kompany/Vertonghen, but yeah it's Guardiola who's the guardian of Barca :)

is this the right time for pep to realise that alves needs a back up? i think the market is now totally complicated,i dont think we can ever find a well decent full back again,all we can do is just stick to the players that we have in MONTOYA,HENRIQUE AND FONTAS/MUNIESA.
I get a feeling we are really in for Kompany... RB/CB/CDM. Not really sure if he would exactly fit in, don't know how much money we are gonna splash for him... If it's Pep's decision fine with the transfer. If it's totally a Txiki's decision doubts do creep in.
Why look for one when we have Hanrique? If only Pep would give him a chance.
They should go for Kompany!!
