Last offensive for Cesc

Both main Catalan sports papers claim today that Barcelona has launched a last offensive to sign Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (22).

Since Arsenal will play a Champions League qualifying game against Celtic Glasgow on Tuesday, it is generally believed that if Cesc takes part in that game, a transfer becomes imposible because that would mean that Cesc cannot play with another team in the Champions League this season.

Both Sport and El Mundo Deportivo report that Cesc wants to return to Barcelona, with the latter claiming that Cesc will personally try to convince Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger.

Cesc would have received a message of Barcelona manager Joseop Guardiola saying that the rumours about the coach not wanting Cesc in his team are false and explaining him his tactical plans about how to integrate the Catalan midifelder in the current team.

Cesc's agent Darren Dein would now be pressuring Arsenal to close a deal before Tuesday or to, at least, convince the club to leave Cesc out of the squad or on the bench for the first game in Glasgow, so there would be one more week for the transfer negotiations. Sport claims that Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants to bring Cesc home before the end of this term next year and is therefore willing to spend big.

I'm sure he will play . I don't think his transfer will happen this summer . We should better wait until next year so we can get him at a reduced price !!

So why didn't negotiations start sooner? 3 days before CL qualification? What have Laporta and Txiki been doing? Do we honestly believe that Arsenal will leave out the most important player in the most important game of the season? It will be disaster for Arsenal if they don't qualify.

Get him at a reduced price? Why?

I think he will come next year, Wenger has already said that it is no way he will leave this year so why not try to buy someone else instead?

Arsene wenger said that barça is just losing time chasing fabregas...he will never let him go at this moment of the season

If we fail to bring him, then we'd go for Arteta or just promote Thiago Alcantara giving him some minutes. We could also go for David Silva

Come on Barca one last push to get us over the hump. Come on Cesc do you want the champions league trophy or not? Its all here waiting for you, Imagine playing with Zlatan Messi Henry Xavi Iniesta Puyol Dani Alves Pique and Valdes. Come home.

Why would Arsenal sell Cesc? There is no reason. They have allready sold two of their best players, kolo toure and Adebayor. No way that they will sell their captain at a moment like this, unless if he forces his way out. And I don't think he will do that. I think he as accepted the fact that he will stay with the gunners for one more year.

Laporta indeed has nothing to lose. Even if he spends big he wont pay for it in the election because he isnt running for president. Could we see a 50 million euro bid?

50m euros for one of our own players? The irony would be if Arsenal replaced him with Fran Merida and he becomes great.

For 50 million + Henrique + Guddy we can get two world class player, and for the middle i prefer Moutinho or Gourcuff. Moutinho is more realistic and cheaper i think, we could get him for about 25 millions + Henrique. He can play as defensive and central middlefielder with lot of creativity.

For another 25 - 30 millions i think smart desicion would be buying Hulk + Bojan on loan. Bojan needs to play in some club like Port to improve himself, he's good, but still not enough for big games. Hulk can bring a lot of quality on the left winger, more than Mata or Silva i think, and Henry could be back up for Hulk, Ibra and Messi, and Jeffren too.

Next year we can buy Fabregas and some fantastic expensive central middlefielder, and sold older players like Henry, Keitha, Hleb, Marques.

sporting will play tuesday in the CL

so don't think there's time left for Moutinho..

To pay 25m + Henrique for Moutinho when his buy out clause is 22,5m really makes sense, doesn't it? He is also cup tied for CL after he played for Sporting in qualification game against Twente. Do you still wanna sign him?

And I hope we are going to stick to our virtues and not spend ridiculous money on him. We shouldn't go anywhere above 30 milion- he's not worth it. Just because Real madrid fucked up the whole transfer market doesn't mean we have to go now and do thing the way they do. Who the hell won the treble last year? Let them buy Huntelaars one year and sell them six months later almost half price... Should we really look at what they are doing? Last year ppl here were also moaning about transfers...

as far as i remember there is a clause in cesc's contract which allows him to leave for 25 mill next year and rossel is all set to activate it, so im pretty sure he will come next year....

Why dont we drop Cesc and go for Van Persie instead

Anonymous said...

I sure hope you are right about Rossel taking over next year

Can we move on please. Its getting annoying esp for me who live in London.

barca4life said...

Fenderek, the point is the maket is what it is. We cannot say because of real madrid we will leave our squad unfinished.

And yes last year we complained about transfers but last year we didnt have 2 of our midfielders heading to the ACN in january and we didnt have 6 competitions. Plus we avoided major injuries which was a huge stroke of luck

I dont want Rosell to take over actually. I hope Laporta runs as a VP and supports a member of the current board as he said he would. Laporta knows what he is doing I'm much rather have continuity than Rosell.

Why shouldn't we complain about transfers last season?

Only 2 out of the total 6 transfers last summer were successes (Alves and Pique). The rest were major flops (Caceres,Hleb, Henrique) or OK (Keita).

Haha! Milan trying to sign Cesc for €30-35m, not gonna happen.

Laporta is going into politics or business, don't expect him to play second fiddle.

Fenderek said...

Why shouldn't you complain about transfers last season? Because of bloody results, that's why...

Barca4life- i agree about covering for thsoe players in january. But those 6 competitions- guys, two of them it's 3 extra games. It's not like another 2 champions leagues... One of them is two games, the other is one game. Actually- isn't Club World Cup 2 games as well? It's not like we are going to play 30 more games than last year- it's only 5 more...

I agree we need 1 or 2 players who will give options. But you do not improve on perfection. We changed some things, Maxwell for Silvinho, Ibra for Eto'o. And that's it. We need a little bit of backup. Seriously- there is no way we can find players better than Xavi, iniesta, Messi or even Toure. And spending 45 million for a rotation player... Don't like that idea at all.
If next year he can come for 25- it would be stupid to take him now for twice as much. Now that would be really Real style.

We need two more players, preferably experienced. To cover in January, to play in less important games so the first team can be fresh for the whole season. But IMO we do not need to spend ridiculous amounts.

And avoiding injuries... you say luck- I say very good way of preparing to the season and fitness training. And it's not like there weren't any- Iniesta was out twice if I remember correctly (one time for quitea bit), Henry was out for a while, in the end we lost Marquez... Yeah, sure, we didn't loose 8 players at the same time- but if that happened as a manager I'd suck all the fitness coaches at once...

Fenderek said...

On the other note- I agree about Rosell. We just reached almost a perfection, seems like Laporta did quite few things right. This is the right direction- as the trophy cabinet will show- and we don't need another version of Gaspart...

barca4life said...

I'm not saying we need to replace Messi Xavi etc, but I just want some more quality on the bench thats all.

Yeah its 3 extra games but the world club cup requires to travel mid season to another country and that causes us to have to push back games leading to a lot of games in a very short space of time. That sort of fatigue and heavy travel with extra games and players who will be out when we have to make up games is what leads to burnout and injury.

Xavi has played over 100 games in the past 2 seasons. If we dont have somebody that can give him a rest every once in a while we will burn him out. I agree that 2 cheap experienced players will do well but if we can get cesc who will be a long term replacement and investment now I saw lets do it.

Fenderek said...

I am actually fine with Cesc... but if 12 months are really going to make him almost twice CHEAPER- I'd wait. 45 now or 25 next year- I'd wait and buy someone else with the difference. Or even pay off some of the debt...

I agree with travelling- that is an extra burden and suddenly those 2 games seem like 4-5. That's why I agree that we need some reinforcments. About a long term replacement- we can think next year if that 25 milion clause is real that is.

"Wenger jokes about Arsenal signing Messi!"

The Frenchman said: "I have made a bid for Messi and nobody speaks about that. Barcelona's response? £125million!

i am starting to lose respect for wenger,he just doesnt know his place....sometimes you have to think about the player too, fabregas has chance for titles with barca but not with arsenal, wenger is weak for keeping him in order to finish better position and take credit.

guess what stupid wenger ,we are getting fabregas even if you dont want him, just 12 months later and for 25mil,
