British tabloid The Sunday Mirror claims that Manchester City has tried to sign Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30) earlier this week.
The English Premier League club reportedly moved for Gudjohnsen three days ago but the player would have rejected the bid because he would be be in advanced negotiations with French league club AS Monaco.
Three other English clubs, namely Portsmouth, West Ham United and Stoke City are also believed to have tried to sign Gudjohnsen, who would nevertheless already have agreed to join Monaco before the summer transfer market ends tomorrow (read more here).

Just leave already !!
WHY would City want to sign Gudjohnsen I'd never understand! These "mirrors" are the worst sport magazines cooking up crap for speculation... at least make it believable guys
Arteta should come in already.
I don't understand how our club is thinking. Are they going to release another midfielder without getting a new one? It seems like we will be left hanging with 11 players and then 10 youth-players for back-up. I don't like this at all.
After we won the CL last time we were crap in defense, looks like we have a world-class defense with endless depth but we are seriously short at mid-field & forward depth.
Barca starting 11 ---> BEST in the world
Barca bench ---> Yeah alright
Barca nerd-fan has an obsession with arteta...he would be good but I don't know if he would be cheap
@Boat Forever: I think they're short on strikers. :D
Their owner decided the line-up(3-2-5), and now they're buying players for it. :D
Arteta is not good enough for Barca and bay the way Cesc come next season I hope
