Barcelona considering bids for Evans and Kompany

British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona is considering bids for Manchester United central defender and Northern Irish international Jonny Evans and Manchester City central defender and Belgian international Vincent Kompany (23 - picture).

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would already had drawn up a short list of alternative candidates in case the transfer of Shaktar central defender Chygrynskiy wouldn't go through (read more here) and will now try to land one of these other options before the end of the month.

The tabloid claims that Manchester United is unlikely to listen to offers for Evans, while Kompany could be attractive because of his versatility, which allows him to also act as defensive midfielder.

The third player on the list, São Paulo central defender and Brazilian international João Miranda de Souza Filho "Miranda", would nevertheless be the easiest player to sign, particularly because Barcelona is expected to be wanting to concentrate resources on a bid for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas.

Kompany would indeed be good as he could be both back-up as centre-back and DM. Don't like him too much tough and Man City will ask a lot for him. At least 15 millions.

Actually if Barca do want to sign Kompany, won't be much of a saga with Manchester City because of the cordial relations that the clubs are maintaining. As soon as City denied the rumors that they would be willing to listen offers for Robinho, he was off our radar. If I remember right, City owner even visited barca a week after Champions League Final. He wanted to check out on La Masia, wanted to have a formal contract with us so that he could sign some players from our Cantera... Like our board seem to have a contract with TRAFFIC.
So I think signing Kompany won't be a problem at all if at all Pep does have him in his plans :)

As per a greek article, Man City, given current negotiations between Barca and Lio Messi concerning an extention of the contract and improved wages for the latter, has contacted Messi's agent giving him a blank cheque to fill the amount that Lio requests as annual fee. Should Messi fills that cheque, hence agreeing to join Man City, then, as per the article the blues will pay all 150 million provided as exit clause on Messi's current contract status (http://www.sport-fm.gr/article/189669).
Like i have suggested in a previous post of mine, this summer has been tottally crazy regarding transfer market.
Should these prove to be true, i trully wonder whether Barca will even attempt to resist and hold on to Messi.

Heard that Miranda guy has been a failure in French league and had to return to his home country after playing just for a year for Sochaux...

@ nicolas
Dude, Barca are trying to make his buy0out clause 250 million.... So if they can they would resist it for sure. But the thing with buy-out clause is if the player has agreed on personal terms with a club and they are willing to pay the buy-out, his current club could do nothing to hold on to him.

P.S. Don't worry... Messi would never do such a mistake :)

I would love my countryman kompany to play at barça. he has technique, flair and has very good passing skills. I have some doubts on his arial game despite his length. but it's a smart boy i'm sure he'll fit in well.

Kompany has too much flair, I think. He should become a little more down to earth. And he's very injury-prone, which is blocking his progress.

What about Daniel Agger from Liverpool he is a left footed CB

I hope we aren't that dumb.

Company is garbage and he is injury prone. Muniesa >>>>>>> Kompany, PERIOD. I have seen 2 years of Company...live, in person...he sucks.

If I remember correctly, Guardiola made it clear, that it is Chygrynskiy or no one.
I think it was in one of the barca paipers, repeated on this blog.
I don't know what he sees in Chygrynskiy, however I agree that we could make do with Munisia and Fontas.
