Valencia rejects new Villa bid

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Valencia has yesterday again rejected a bid for Valencia striker and Spanish international David Villa (27).

Barcelona president Joan Laporta reportedly called Valencia president Manuel Llorente to make a bid of 42 million euro°, that was rejected.

Llorente confirmed the news in an interview with the tabloid: "Laporta called me and I repeated that we're not willing to sell the player."

At 22:20 pm last night, the player's agent José Luis Tamargo would then also have contacted Llorente by phone to inform him that Barcelona was preparing a new, higher offer for the Spanish striker. This new bid wouldn't so far have been received by Valencia.

42 million euro =

36 million british pound

Someone please shoot Llorente. Anyone living in Valencia, please do the honours.

fcbee said...

We're not shooting anyone. Please, be a little mature in chosing your words.

Enough is enough. 42m euros is enough. We can not pay 50m euros for Villa. It is crazy.

PeP how do i post the article I made. Help me out

pep said...

It's ok, we'll take care of it!

fcbee said...

Ooooh, now he'll really be afraid, Sanur. A club can sell their players at the price they want. We can do that for Messi, they can do that for Villa.

barca nike said...

Maxwell will be presented in the Mini Estadi

fcbee said...

Because they're putting up a new pitch.

skanjos said...

fcbee a player should be able to play for the team he wants if a reasonable offer comes.also the player was promised last year that a reasonable offer would come this year they would let him go and 42mil are a good offer even by todays standars.

if we really have good relationship with inter now we should focus on ibrahimovic with a money+hleb swap.

i am tired of valencia ,they are doing what deportivo was doing and again the player will be the one that will end up hurt the most

Unknown said...

I hate you Llorente,I hate you Deportivo.

el fuego said...

is llorente stupid or something. he must be reasonable in this case. he must know that valencia is in seareous problems, and that nobody will offer more money for david villa.

fcbee said...

It's their right to do that, I really don't see the problem. Villa signed last year a contract renewal to 2013, so he shouldn't complain afterwards. A contract is a contract, bith parties agreed and set their signature, then you have to respect that.

Dolce said...

Of course we pay 50 million for Villa if it makes the difference between winning La Liga or getting just 2nd place. We cant put price on our success! Its Villa or nothing because Eto'o wont renew his deal anytime soon and if he stays, then we risk losing him for free next year. We simply cant count on Eto'o and its even more dubious to pay 36 million plus VAT for Forlan. Barca has been tracking Villa for weeks but is it true that Barca made their first formal bid just days ago? The situation is so tricky because both Llorente and Soriano may have the accept the Villa move. Valencia is nothing without Villa´s goals so of course they want to keep him.

Humankind said...

42 million is more than enough. The price is already outrageous because he is already 27 and will turn 28 this year. That means that he will be on top of his game for maximum 3.5 years. 42, in my opinion, is too much already, but 50 million is impudent behavior by Valencia's board. That's pure greed because it's not like the guy is 23 or 24. If he was, then maybe I could understand how he could be valued at 50 million, but not at the age of almost 28. I say we forget about Villa and spend that money on someone who can give us more value.

Don Luis said...

Let's go for Kun now!!!

Je me'appelle Samuel said...

This is setting up for a Zlatan deal. That would be insane

Unknown said...

Ideal options could be Luis Fabiano or (preferably) Kun. I dont know about you guys but i see the Felipe story being repeated in the Villa case. If we sign Kun tomorrow morning we should expect Valencia reducing the price of Villa to 42 mil within 2 hours from the anouncement. Enough is enough. We can not just pay whatever they want. La coruna valued Felipe 20 mil but as soon as we signed Maxwell then they decided that 10 mil would be enough. There are many players who can do the job. If they wish to get stuck with Villa unhappy then let them have it. Just for the record i believe we should hold on to Eto and not spend for a striker (given that he renews of course).

Marc4barca said...

Visca El Zlatan... 40+hleb+eto and he is ours.

Dolce said...

BarcaFan BIH, we cant let our quality of play drop just because we want to save couple millions. Only Zlatan and Villa are capable of filling Eto'os boots in short term. Neither can we sign some young and untested striker and then just hope that he starts to shine like Eto'o did years ago. Eto'o was rather unknown when he joined the team but luckily he was an instant hit, Barca made a huge risk by signing him and offloading Kluivert and loaning Saviola in 2004. If and when Keirrison arrives, he becomes only a back up striker, at least for now.

BARCA/FAN said...

I agree nicolas, keep etoo cause he"s been great for us and we really dont need a new striker[but only if he renews].although etoo and villa would be fantastic.ah sure throw in ribery too lol

Marc4barca said...

it's basically to late for eto to stay cause he might not be as determined as last season after all that has happened lately.

Barca_The _Best said...

Make one last offer, if failed then go for ibrahimovic and include eto in the deal.enough

Unknown said...

Villa is a great footballer and would be great for barca, but there is a limit and that limit is how much we should pay for him, and i think anything over 40mil is too much for a striker who will be turning 28 in a few years time. We should try and renew Etoo seriously and use Villas money on trying to get Ribery, or sell Etoo if possible and then go for Kun who is tried and tested and is a goal scorer, plus he can give us a good 5-7 years plus I think Keirrison will be learning alot under the wings. Zlatan will again be too expensive and he too ain't getting young.

Unknown said...

BARCA-THE-BEST i will agree with you that Zlatan is an amazing striker however i have serious doubts as to whether he could fit Barca. What made the team so unique last season was in my opinion the fact that no player was above the team. Everebody would work as hard as hell to help the team win titles, however nobody was above the team. Zlatan has proved in several occasions that he has no love for any team. He simply plays for himself. He has already forgotten Juve and now Inter. Eto has proven how much passionate he is with the club in several occasions. We need to sign someone who will start becoming one with the team and play FOR the team and not for himself. Villa can do so, so can Riberry, Kun, Fabiano... not players like Ibra, Robinho, Cristiano Ronaldo.

NouBarca said...

you think Eto would agree to be used in a swap + cash deal? Recheck my mans ego.

ograsrot said...

Is it time to move on?

Zlatan?

or maybe Adebayor? -his price tag seams to have dropped since last year,

Marc4barca said...

you maybe right sanur but zlatan and villa and forlan game does not base on speed which means that when they get older there game wont be weakened. age is only a big factor for people who do alot of running and who are injury prone. zlatan villa and forlan all play the wait upfront hold up play pass or shoot and drift to the left when necessary game. people who should worry about age is rooney eto tevez drogba etc they always running around and drogba is still running around alot which means they are some people who can overcome the age factor, i think people like zanetti, nedved, figo, inzaghi, van nistlerooy and henry make my point clear that sometimes old people make the younger ones non existent. furthermore many people complain about arsenal's youth policy and yet alot of people keep saying this guy is too old and that guy is too old. turning 30 doesn't mean your career is going downhill from there, in my eyes it's just a number, as long as your performing on the pitch age is nothing but a distraction.

I see some reports of Laporta and Tixi being in Milan negotiating for Zlatan.. gah, I would really like for Villa to come. :(

I sincerely hope this won't turn out like the Filipe deal.

Iason said...

Laporta asked for a LB, Striker, CB and a versatile Midfielder right? Well, Maxwell=LB, keep Keirrison and renew Eto, Henrique=CB, and that way we have enough money to splash out on a high quality Mid like Cesc or Masch. Maxwell=5m, Henrique=free, Keirrison=15m= only 20m. That leaves around 40-60m to buy one or two players of they highest quality like Masch and Cesc or maybe we can snatch Ribery or Robben.

ratty88 said...

valencia will budge when villa makes the move. Villa has been nothing but class for them and theyre treating him like crap taking advantage of his character not appeasing his wishes. I dont see how villa doesnt end up at barca but in the mean time i think we will see another signing else where possibly cb? giving villa the fuel to get this deal done before the start of the us tour!

wala said...

All of you are forgetting that if Henry is capable of 25 goals on the left wing, he is certainly capable of 30+ goals as a striker. I don't think Eto'o was any better than Henry this season. The risk by not signing Villa or Zlatan is not that great as you make it out. We do not have to sign either Villa or Zlatan. With Henry + Keirrison + Bojan who is more mature + another new striker our risk is very much reduced.

ratty88 said...

trust me i didnt forget that and im not one who believes henry will fall far down i think hes got another great season left. but gai is perfect for cl group stages, every copa del rey games and a sub in case either henry bojan iniesta or anyone is injured on that left wing and the fill in needs a sub. its good news wala not bad

Sachincule said...

@blaugrana 1
dude where did u get that freaking news from?? or are u just bluffing??

Engineer said...

There's a report on Goal, but the original source is Sky Sports Italia - but I can't find it on their website.

And the report itself.. doesn't really say much.

Sachincule said...

sport and el mundo also mention it now....

koko=barca said...

I am not the biggest fan of Ibra but why not. Barca will have to spend big to buy Ibrahimovic so I really don't see this transfer happens. Maybe Laporta is in Milano to sell Hleb.

Sachincule said...

if we had to sell hleb why would laporta and txiki go to italy?? txiki would have done the job himself... and a i was expecting this news once maxwell signed for barca as maxwell and ibra are best friends and they have apparently to always play in the same team....
they might add both eto and hleb in the deal plus some 15-20 mill...

Aborjin said...

last minute..
hleb+eto'o+35m=Maxwell + IBRAKADABRA

deals a deal, finally getting someone. i am happy with that.

barca4life said...

yeah i think etoo = 25 mill Hleb = 10 mill Ibra = 70 mill so maybe Etoo + Hleb + 30-40 mill could equal ibra

Humankind said...

If I had to choose between Ibra and Villa, I'd choose Ibra. Why? Because Pep wanted Ibra first but the 70 million euro price tag made him change his mind. So, if Pep, the man, the legend originally preferred Ibra, I'd say we better listen to him. I can get a buzz just thinking about Ibra lining up next to Henry, Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Engineer said...

Update: "I have met Laporta. We spoke about Eto'o and Ibrahimovic," the oil tycoon stated.

(Oil tycoon = Moratti)

And following the discussion above, if I were to choose, I'd take David Villa.

Next season Barca will definately face a different challenge and that is everyone will park the bus and try to play rugby instead of football, they will follow the negative unfootball tactics of losers Chelsea, even madrid will have Kaka, Ronaldo, Benzema inside the parked bus, and for that we need big presence and with that comes Ibrahimovic, tall, strong and skillful, villa is shorter than Etoo I believe. Then We have Keirrison who is taller than both Etoo and Villa, and is putting on healthy weight and building strength, he would become an identical of Ibra and learning off him from the bench and on top of that the skills he already has as a 20 year old can only get better. Also with the understanding of Ibra and Maxwell...if the latter makes the LB his own then that could be good too. Beside all this another creative Midfielder is required to cover Xavi and Iniesta and that could be Hernanes who looks a very neat, skillfull and composed player. Then we have Marquez coming back to cover Defensive midfield position and then maybe go for either Silva or Mata for te wing.

M10 said...

yeah whatcha talkin about Aborjin?? this is all happening so fast, just like with maxwell, and moratti has already confirmed the negotiations

barca4life said...

Update : Sky Sport Italia are claiming that Inter could sell Ibrahimovic to Barcelona for 40 million euros, plus Eto'o and Hleb.

Unknown said...

Another important thing guys...how about our very own PEP for the next president..I know i'll vote him for sure, then we can have two Peps.

M10 said...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ they cannot refuse that

wala said...

That would be a crazy offer for Ibra. The value of that deal is 75m euros, which is way too much. 15m + Eto'o + Hleb should be absolute maximum.

Marc4barca said...

i knew it could happen... i said 40mil+eto and hleb and that's what is going down but it is news from goal.com so i'm not getting my hopes up but i can't help to be excited zlatan is my hero he needs to join barca... ViSCA EL ZLATAN.

Interesting Update On The Ongoing Villa Saga
I just heard on Goltv that D.Villa went on record saying would be willing to take a pay cut of approximately 1 million a year off of his yearly income to join FCB.

Unknown said...

I have been on El Mundo, on Marca and Sopt as well as La Gazzetta Dello Sport,, it seems to be all positive news coming from Moratti on Sky Italia, it was even mentioned that the transfer could be concluded in matter of hours as well as Eto'o having spoken to Moratti over the phone regarding joining Inter...If all is true an I don't mention Goal.com then we could possibly have a second signing and a major one too in as many days....Whoooooo Hoooooooo cannot wait!!

Aborjin said...

i am for real, things already taken but small details, they will try to lower the money to 28-30m tomorrow. most likely 33m plus players.

i am happy with this news.
