Asked about the rumours linking Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30) with a move to French club AS Monaco (read more here), Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has confirmed that the transfer is expected to be closed later today: "We hope to reach a final agreement later today. We are waiting for the paperwork to be arranged, which should be done this afternoon.
There won't be a fixed transfer fee. The transfer will be valued based upon the performances of the player and the operation could lead us to receive two million euros. So we wish him the best, that he does very well, which would mean we could get those two millions."

Gudjohnsen to join Monaco on Monday
who will play for Barca?
ReplyDeletei really hate the fact that we're not getting any ( or almost any) transfer fees for players who leave us !
ReplyDeleteVictor sanchez : Loan For Free
Hleb : Loan For Free
Henrique : Loan For Free (and we're paying a part of his salary)
Caceres : Loan For Free
Xavi Torres : Free Transfer
and now Guddy : Free Transfer + 2 Mill in variables.
some board !
@ Mido,
ReplyDeletewhat does loan for free mean ? i mean if you loan a player to another club isnt it obvious you wont receive a transfer fee..
It sucks because it looks like some of the players like Hleb and Xavi Torres are going to be good players for their teams and we could have gotten money for them.
ReplyDeleteIt's better to let Guddy leave now since we dont have to pay he's salary upcoming year. And since his cntract expierce nest summer, we would lost him for free anyway.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck Guddy!
Pep it would be great if you could put the youth player out on loan , along with if we have a buy back option or not
ReplyDeleteExactly. Considering his high salary (4 million a year, if I'm not mistaking) it's a pretty good deal for us. I'm sure we will get at least one of those two millions and in that case it adds up to 5 million euros for a player Guardiola doesn't include in his vision and that we would have lost without us earning a penny next season. Having said that: this is a very dangerous game the board is playing. The squad seems very thin and the rotation players have very little experience at this level. I hope Pep nows how to handle that.
ReplyDelete@Mido you are wrong
ReplyDeleteCaceras : went for 11 m euro (He will be sold)
Hleb : for 10 m euro (He won't be back)
Henrique : Racing is going pay 95% of his salary. We will only pay variables of his contract and he will obviously come back)
So at the end of the season we will get minimum 21 m euro.Besides 2+4+4 m euro will be saved from their salary.
At first anonymous... typically when a player is loaned the loaner club recieves a payment for providing the player's services to the loaning club. Although I don't know if the details he listed are correct, I believe when he says "loan for free" he is saying that the loaning club is only paying the player's salary and did not pay the loaner club a fee for the service.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion - none of this is new, Barcelona is not a selling club.
Why did we buy all these guys in the first place again?
ReplyDeletewell we didn't buy xavi torres and sanchez at all...and when guddy was bought he was at his prime..henrique and caceres are still young and maybe come back with more experience under their belt, just like pique did with zaragoza and manu...
ReplyDeleteThis is another idiotic transfer in many ways. He would have left for free in 2010 but we should have got at least 5 million for him but now the fee is close to zero. It would have been better to keep him because our midfield was already too thin. He is not a star but he is a decent player who would have been useful especially in copa del rey. If you exclude youth players, Barca has only five midfielders and in addition Iniesta has to cover Henry sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI havnt given up on Caceres at all, I think he is going to do weel at Juventus and maybe come back next season
ReplyDeleteI will miss Eidur Gudjohnssen.
ReplyDeleteCmon now we deffinitly need another signing. Our squad keeps getting smaller and it was already small in the first place, the only reason we got away with it last season, was because we were lucky regarding injuries
ReplyDelete*Botia - Sporting - Loan for Free
ReplyDeleteWhat happend to "we need to add more depth to squad"? Guddy should have stayed, I liked him.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope they have a suprise for us befor the transfer window closes tonight, otherwise we better hope no one gets injured and that seems unlikely
