Manchester City rejects 40 million bid for Robinho

Spanish football site Britcorner claims that Manchester City has rejected a Barcelona bid for left winger and Brazilian international Robinho (25).

Barcelona would have discretely offered the English Premier League club a transfer fee of 40 million euros°. Manchester City nevertheless informed Barcelona yesterday evening that they weren't willing to accept the offer

Although Manchester City manager Mark Hughes would have agreed with a transfer if the club would sign a substitute for the Brazilian winger, the owners of Mancehster City would in the end have decided to reject the bid.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has insisted that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would make an ultimate attempt to sign Robinho before the summer transfer window ends. Catalan sports paper El 9 Esportiu claims that the only option would be a loan deal.

  2. it is a fact that if we do not sign anymore players we will not make it far in the CL..in laliga ya we will do good but not in Europe. We need a winger/midfielder and robhino would be perfect.

BRING BACK MARC CROSAS !!! he is barely playing at Celtic ! Bringing him back will provide us with a backup for Midfield and would prove experience in rotation ! We still have a buy back option on him i think !

  5. As the official statement said last year: the buy back option is for 2010, not for this summer.

Oh ok, i thought the option was going to end this year, thx ;) .. But im starting to think that after the CL draw..guardiola realised that he needs an extra class player. Using our youth as rotation for games played in Eastern Europe will b very tough

  7. hes not that much worth. roben would havw been better but real wouldnt had sold him to us

  8. They shold have acted earlier and yes we do need another winger and also a midfielder. some good options would be the 3 R´s: Robinho,Ribery,Robben but its unlikely now. Other less unrealistic options could be: Babel,Dembele,Alexis. I think Babel could be an ok transfer but they have to hurry.

  9. i want robi in our team.

  10. i actually want a striker who can play wide for this position. mata suits that perfectly. and also we should be carefull that there aren't to much captains on the ship.
we don't need more egoes. a modest hardworking guy will do. i hope jeffren breakes through. that would be the perfect solution. the perfect left winger for me would be a fast, dept seeking player who easily scores. not a player who slows down the team for sure. if it must be a star, pato would be perfect to me.

  11. Why not swwap Henry (and some cash) for Robinho?! It will be the last summer we can get something for Henry, who I predict won't be able to match his last year's performances. For City this would be a great deal too, since Henry is a huge name in the EPL. Only problem would be Henry and his Arsenal past.

  12. Gervinho, whats people opinion of him?can he become a cheap replacement with eto qualities?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Way too much money, he's ex-Madrid and whats the point in our fantastic youth acadamy if we never use them.
Robinho is a great player but another 40 mill? No way!
Lets have faith in our own products.
In the words of Laporta himself:
''We hand rear ballon d'or winners, Madrid buy them.''

    Barca for life...

  14. Henry is NOT worth much now . He had a poor first season and a good season last season . He wanted to win the CL and he did and that is why he came to Barça in the first place . I think he will have a mediocre year then he will probably go to the MLS next year . We definitely need a LW !!

  15. robinho would be great option for that position,so barca should sign him.His style of playing would perfectly fit barca style and together with ibra and messi they could demolish every defence

  18. bring back ronaldinho for left wing backup.. ;)

  19. Mancini and quaresma are available for loan... simple as that (and for the bloody 3rd time)... How difficult can it be to make a move on them... can anyone doubt that

  20. henry is still worth 27 mil euro on the market, he is not going to mls next year. Robinho sucks, if we are willing to spend 40 mil on him we should be willing to spend 50 on villa or aguero. those players would also be good to have in case ibra isnt as prolific as we expected. I dont like ending the transfer window without a goal from zlatan, he had better score.

  21. I think ronaldinho is not an option anymore...we should get a more experienced player now and let our youngsters grow a bit (or just rely in henry, bojan, jeffren and so on),just like when messi was just starting in the 1st team and we had ludovic giuly

agreed if we r willing to spend 40m for a winger go for aguero ...!!!

  23. Forget Robinho or Fabregas, who we should finally get is Diego Ribas. He would be perfect beside Xavi and then we can move Iniesta up to LW

looool Quaresma?!?!?! He is a prime example of a FLOP !! Why buy a player who alreaded flopped with us?! And MAncini?? He's good but for a team like Atleti or villareal

    ReplyDelete
  26. because he was here when he was very very young, and now the team play a different style of football than then.the player now has alot of cl expirience and league games in both epl/calcio.

quaresma is an awesome player, mainly too selfish but we have ibra dont we?i prefer robinho thought

Man Guardiola is really adamant! He didn't back-up when the board were not willing to splash cash for Chygra. He wanted Robinho & it does look like we really bid for him. Because the speculation seemed quite strong recently & Robinho DID NOT get to play today... I'm pretty sure there has been a move for him.
I'm now more than convinced Ibra is gonna be a very prolific striker for us. Pep wanted Ibra in teh first place and our first transfer move had been for him. Now looking at Pep's character I'm quite sure he'd make Ibra work like hell and make the transfer move a success for Barca & the player himself :)

  31. Blaugrana 1 : i suppose spending 50 mil for another transfer is ideal for you... Quaresma has evolved, he just cant fit in Mourinhos catenazio tacticts, he is amazing in one against one and opening spaces and his crossing has improved... i suppose you think it is very simple to negotiate and close a realy good player within 24 hours left... Please you make me laugh with your ignorance

  32. 40 million + Bojan or Pedro on loan for Hulk. That would be fantastic

If Hughes really was ready to let go of Robinho if he got another player for that position, I think loaning Jeffren should have been considered. But Jeffren then would have become useless for us, since very few players from EPL had been good in Spain

  34. Andréssibraviqué30 August, 2009

WHY SO SERIOUS!? Cut it out guys... Why bother to fight about a player who is in no way connected with us now!? We all support the same team, be united :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I wonder why is Robinho not played today! He didn't even come on as sub. If I remember right a supposed clause is included in his contract that if City didn't qualify for Europe for 2009-10 season, Robinho could move out if there's a bid for him, right? May be Robinho also wants the move to happen!? That's why he was not played today, some thing like drama around Lescott that happened at Everton recently!

In my opinion i think Mark Hughes was just resting him for the next game...as they have two tough games vs arsenal and man utd coming up.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Next match for Robinho is on Sep 5th which is not quite important for Brazil as they more or less qualified for the world cup already. Next match for City is on 12th of September. I don't think it's like giving rest to the player. He could have at least brought him as a sub because the score was just 1-0 and Portsmouth were trying too hard to equalize

  38. Mata scores for Valencia!!! I was really optimistic about Mata signing for us :(

but sevilla r 10 men ... the goal was always cmmg

  40. Ajax signed Mako Pantelic for free... Now would be the ideal opportunity to sign Luis Suarez if we are really in for a left winger

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jeffren with a buy-back option after 2 years + 15-18 would be the best deal, that would be an offer that Ajax cannot refuse :P

  42. Is Barca's match being telecasted in India? If so which channel ??

    ReplyDelete
  43. i cant believe we are going for a player like robinho for a whopping 40million!
for that amount of money, top up with 10million, we can get aguero or villa instead of a lazy , dirty player like robinho..
