British tabloid The Daily Mirror claims that Barcelona is interested in Schalke 04 goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (23).Barcelona reportedly wants to give Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés some competition this season and would already have made tentative enquiries about the German keeper.
The club would now plan to move quickly for Neuer and is believed to going to make a firm bid before the summer transfer window closes later today. Schalke would nevertheless not be willing to let the player leave cheaply and the German club would be asking a transfer fee of around 14 million euros for their goalkeeper.
Manchester United is also said to be interested in Neuer. With Edwin van der Sar approaching the end of his career, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson would have stepped up his search for a new goalkeeper, with the German being one of the candidates. Ferguson has nevertheless said that he will not make any further signings before the transfer window closes.

This is very stupid and i believe it's not the true. Valdes is good keeper, he just signed new contract, he's a chilad of Barca and will be first option for many years. He had some bad moments, but he's better and better and now is one of the best, especialy in important games.

Pep knows it very well and i don't believe in this stupid story, it' almost like buying Agguerro for 50 millions for making a competition with Messi, and one of them must sitting on the banch when other play. So, so stupid article.

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite goalies but I think Sergio Asenjo is a lot more promising and 10m cheaper. Asenjo is the next Casillas I think he is already as good as Neuer plus 3 years younger but since we can't get him, I would love to have Neuer who in my opinion will be the next Kahn.

I dont think this is bullshit like all of u say. Valdes renewed his contract for a very high salary and Barca had no choice but to agree cause had they not then we would have had to pay alot for a replacement so this is the way they are going about it. As for Neuer he is an amazing keeper and only 22y old, younger than all the other German propects...
ReplyDeletewhat if it IS true? he is a good keeper, and it is not a problem to have a third keeper int he squad is it? he can play all spanish cup games, taking pinto's role from last season, while pinto picks up jorquera's. and does anyone remember two years ago, when chelsea had both keepers injured? they had a third choice goalie to call upon. what do we do in such a situation? call up mino/oier for a stretch of games? i doubt it. i would be delighted to see this move come through, though it would add more fuel to real madrid's arguments that we spend as much as they do.
