Messi doesn't ever want to leave Barcelona

Asked about his contract renewal (read more here), Barcelona player Lionel Messi has said at a press conference in San Francisco that he doesn't want to leave Barcelona:

"For me, there's no problem at all. I never had problems, I never want to go. I have always said that I won't leave this club. I just want to focus on playing football.

I don't want to talk about the Ballon d'Or. I've always said that the group is the most important thing. Last year we were happy to win everything and now we're working to do the same, but in a calm way. We want to repeat what we did last season, we have the same will and motivation.

I think therefore the team should go step by step, like last year, when this worked out fine. We're just starting, so it doesn't make sense thinking about the long term future. We shouldn't think about the treble or the Champions Leauge, both are very difficult.

Ibrahimovic? With him the team will have even more options. I saw him play a lot with Inter but he has surprised me still. He's an impressive quality player, he is tall and strong and has a great shot. Although one shouldn't forget that the performances of Samuel have been spectacular. Eto'o gave everything to Barça, with his motivation and his goal. Let's hope Ibra can match that."

"Last year we were lucky to win everything"

no luck ,barcelona was the best team,their performances were the best in europe and we deserved the cups more than any team,some will say but what about the iniesta shot with chelsea,i will answer years and years of practicing hitting that ball of cloth made it happen,there is not such a thing as luck in football,the best team wins,the best team in the field not overall....

There seems to be something special to play at barca, a lot of the biggest stars are so down to earth compared to other teams. Messi, Iniesta, xavi, true heros in a time where most other players only play for money.

Here is a video about the everyday life of xavi.. You wouldn't expect that his still lives a life like this being a multi millioner fotboll superstar.

Without regard to their footballing abilities it is a real pleasure to have players like Xavi, Iniesta and Messi on the team. They are true role models for people of all ages but especially the kids - something severely lacking in our society today.

@Skanjos
I would never admit this anywhere except for this friendly place. What if there was a proper referee in the second leg of the Chelsea game? There are things out of our hand. The team deserved it more than anyone else, but a little ride from lady luck didn't hurt.

This is why I cannot understand why ppl keep talking about Cesc. Messi, Xavi, Iniesta- they never want to leave Barca. No matter how much money is thrown at them- they want to be here, nowhere else. Why the hell would we want the guy, who recently said that chosing between Barca and Real would be difficult? Seriously- no matter how good he is. Even though he comes from our youth system- he is NOT Barca material... not mentally anyway...
