Speaking at a press conference, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has confirmed that Barcelona player Lionel Messi will miss the first league game against Sporting because he has to play a game with Argentina the next weekend:
"Saying that he doesn't want to play is not true. He wants to play with Barça but he's a victim of the charged calendar and the FIFA rules.
The European super cup is on Friday and the league game is on Monday, so he wouldn't make it to join his national team. That's why I gave him the permission to go. It's an important game for Argentina and I prefer to listen to the players in those kind of situations."

dont care as long as he plays the super cup.we can win without messi .by then we will have iniesta and ibra back
Again you can't understand why that European super cup is played on Friday. Why not on Wednesday? Or on Thursday, so then the teams can still play a league game on Sunday.
First game of a season is so important. Although with Zlatan and Iniesta back, we immediately have the chance to proof that we're not Messi-dependent...
i hope to listen to good news because in the last two weeks all the articles made me feel upset from this transfer period. Moreover the departure of several players on loan or on permanent deals let me believe that we are not in a healthy position... i hope my believes are wrong
Can someone please pass over the link for the Barca League game Schedule ?
Thanks in advance.
You can find Barca's schedule here on the website:

I cant wait for Barca to finally kick off the new season.I have a feeling this is going to be another one to remember!
i hope so Aussie, and i also hope we dont remember it for all the wrong reasons
Lol, one thing is for sure, nobody will forget this season. Ronaldo Messi Ibra kaka in the classico, was like back in the days of zidane beckham figo in the classico against ronaldinho deco and etoo.
I seem to remember two 3-0 wins somewhere in there :)
I really hope we play brilliantly like we did last season. I'm somewhat afraid that the squad didn't lose morale and the will.
Very wise decission.
Yes, the calendar is ridicuolus, but it's a good decisiion by Pep. If Argentina lost and Messi in the long run couldn't play at World Cup- that would damage his morale, especially if the club made him stay here and not help his country.
Thank you Aussie Barca fan
