Chygrynskiy will arrive in Barcelona tomorrow

Barcelona's official website has announced that Shakhtar Donetsk central defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chygrynskiy (22) will arrive in Barcelona tomorrow.

Spanish news agency EFE claims that Chygrynskiy will travel to Barcelona together with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Barcelona sports vice president Rafael Yuste, who are today in Ukraine for the inauguration of the new stadium of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Chygrynskiy would undergo the medical tests tomorrow afternoon and will then be presented to the press and the fans on Monday afternoon. Barcelona is believed to have agreed to pay a transfer fee of 25 million euros for the Ukrainian centre-back, who would sign a five-year contract.

Robben who is a well known star gets sold for 25 mio...

an absolutely unknown jungle-boy named Dmitro Chygrinskyi also gets sold for 25 mio...

something has to be wrong with Barca's tranfer policy.

its overpaying.

Real just won their first game in the ligue with some referee help as usual 3-2. Its funny that on goals homepage they dont mention anything about the refs help but make it seem like Real completely destroyed Depor with amazing play.

his face looks pretty relaxed even knowing that ibra is behind him:-)

I agree that we overpaid for chygrynskiy and would have gladly paid those 25mil for robben instead. He just played a fantastic game for Bayern scoring and constantly being a thread in the offense. Hope we can sign next season unless Real have some deal with bayern never to sell him to us

Chygrynskiy has an incredbly low wage, his effort to make the deal go through, which is why you have to look at the fee differently. Secondly, he's 22 and not just a "jungle boy" but one of the best defensive prospects in the game. Thirdly, Robben only plays half the matches every season because of injury, if he's lucky, so you should actuallu double his transfer fee to come to the real value.

Oh and if Barça overpays so much, then how come they are the most financialy healthy club among the group of best clubs in the world?

haha, Real only barely bet a team that we bet 5-0

We'll have to wait and see if it's overpaid. If he fits in well, he could be a great buy if you can spread that fee over 10 years. If we have to get rid of him next summer like happened with caceres, he'll be overpaid.

Like all our summer transfers: too early to call. Well, except Maxwell who was clearly not overpaid. Let's see if in some months from now, we call him a bargain...

Anon how is Chigy unknown?? Do you even watch football?? He won the EUFA Cup last season and was voted his team's best player and best defender in the league and tournament.

Did you see the game last night? Also put a name to your comment. Too many people around here hide behind 'Anon' and make silly comments to get attention. $25 million for a proven defender and cup winner is the market rate at the moment. If you want a bargain come to Australia and buy our shity defenders.

thx boobs... i believe chygry would rock but not on the back of the home youth

25 millions is not overpaying. Pep thinks that this guy will be the solution to our problems in defence. It's a fact that our defence is old, and in a couple of years Puyol, Marques and Milito will be too old too play at there highest level. Thats why we need another young centre back who can cover up after they are gone. Chygrynskiy is expected too become a new Marquez or something like that. 25 is not too much.

Guys try and be realistic, yes robben is 25 and Chygrynski is 25, but it depends on whats available and whats needed, a Bentley costs 250,000 and so does a house but a house is much more required and has than a 250,000 bently. It does not mean we overpayed for an unknown player because a world class player went for the same price.

Could you possibly see Real selling Robben to us (the answer is no, Florentino ain't no Gaspart and he like real are full of envy), so no point even talking about it, if he was at another club who were willing to sell to us for 25 million and we didn't go for it then yes you can talk and talk and talk about it.

Aside from that, who would Robben displace in our starting XI? Because rest assured that eventually, he'll be wanting to start.

Chygrynskyy is the answer to making our defense strong for years to come, and championships, even in Barcelona, come from defense. We now have Chygrynskyy, Muniesa, Botia and Fontas, not to mention more good years from Alves, Pique, Maxwell and Abidal.

Who could have envisioned a time when our defense's future would look stronger than that of our attack?

As for Chygrynskyy not being worth 25m? I'd reckon that people who say that, didn't watch the match yesterday. If Alves is worth 30, Chyggy is worth 25.

But our system also requires a reevaluation of the worth of a defender, as I've said before. He doesn't just kick the ball out. He starts attacks, plays on the offensive end of set pieces and rotates all across the pitch.

for all those who put messi in the starting lineup in "get inside guardiola's heaad" messi plays for arentina on monday.

That we need from a Barca type defender. We must be aware that there wont be many "our type" outside our academy.
If the coach feel he is the missing piece in our puzzle? Go get him if you can.
I saw the match and definitely looked like a player who could fit in our system and play our way that is, to start the attacks..come up the field..be good in set pieces, etc.

to answer your question kxevin robben should replace henry

@zos, its called ultrasurf. its a program you download.

Kxevin said...

I dunno, Anonymous....the day that I see Robben battling for possession in midfield and tracking back to play defense, I'll think about him replacing Henry.

Never mind being able to slot into the "9" slot or play with his back to goal.

Not to diss Robben at all. He's an excellent winger. But what makes Henry work in that role is that he's a striker playing on the wing.

Its one of the silliest transfers i have ever seen and i totally agree with the comparison of robben. Both players cost 25 mio. and its not difficult to see which one is and will be the better one although they play on different positions. chiggy will definitely be another caceres and henrique. and by the way: we have enough CB!!! Puyol and Pique as Starters, Marquez, Muniesa and Fontas as Backups. Does anyone really believe that chiggy will be a starter instead of "el gran capitan" carles puyol or pique who has been elected one of the best three defenders of the last season?

Bullshit, totally bullshit. We paid 80 mio for three players of which we definitely only needed one who costed just 4,5 mio.

We should have renewed the contract with eto'o and used the money for cesc fabregas and not for zlatan who has not scored a goal in his first three games while robben for example scored two in his first game!

Barca: This years transfers are shit!
