In his speech before the General Assembly yesterday, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has announced that Barcelona Atlètic wing attacker Pedro (21) and Barcelona Atlètic polyvalent defender and midfielder Víctor Sánchez (20 - picture) will start the new season with the first team.
Catalan sports paper Sport claims that both players will get a salary rise and will be able to pick another shirt number between 1 and 25. Pedro was given the number 27 and Víctor Sánchez the number 29 earlier in the pre-season (read more here). The numbers 12, 17, 19 and 23 are still available.

I agree with Ramzi, lets get the youth players in the team. Pedro will improve as the season progresses......

12 is a nice number for a player who can almost play everywere, so 12 - Victor Sanchez. 17 or 19 is nice for Pedro.

I hope Iago wil stay because Pedro is promoted.

Of the two I think it's safe to say that Pedro's going to get more chances to impress the club as things stand now. We already have a crowded midfield as it is so I think Sanchez's contributions are going to be few and far between. Although I wouldn't discount seeing both of them getting some run in a couple of Copa matches.
Personally I still hold onto the belief that Jeffren's a more all around talented player than Pedro. But Pedro's more mature, more level headed and less selfish than Jeffren at this point. Although I have a gut feeling that Jeffren could become a star one day. Call it a hunch or a gut feeling but the only "thing" I see holding him back is himself and his ego.
I'm just happy to see these lads' work pay off and finally getting a chance to crack the "big" squad which is no small feat in itself. It should also inspire other youth players that with hard work and sacrifice they too may one day have a chance to grace the pitch at Camp Nou. And nothing gives me a greater sense of satisfaction than seeing another player from our youth academy crack the first team as oppposed to going out and splashing on a player who is the product of someone else's youth system.

Now both Pedro and Victor Sanchez were promoted, why don't Luis Enrique promote Iago now, so we can keep him. I think Barca will promote Guy Assulin next season although would like Barca to promote him this season. I'm really disapointed that Barca didn't even let him play the preseason.

FINALLY! Someone who sees the light. Cojonudo Icouldnt agree with you more whole heartedly. I strongly Jefrren should get that LW position this season. The guy's 20 yrs old, not really someone to consider a youth. His ability would add flair to what is already atractive football, and from what i saw in the preseason he shouldnt take long to make the role solely his own. Is there no way to convince the barca heads that they are makin a mistake by loaning him out? I personally think Bergistain is an idiot because by buying more players he's preventing the youth getting chances to prove themselves. whats the point of having a youth system if you dont use it? Especailly when there's not a lack of talent.
