...and about alves, he's difinately the best in that position and we couldn't get anyone better than him but considering we had to pay so much for him, i gave him a 9
8, in context. He has to learn to balance defense with attack, and where to take the fouls for the team. Locations of free kicks can really matter in the set piece-heavy world of Champions League.
Having said that, he's a definite upgrade from Zambrotta, and worth every penny that we paid. He works like a dog, and really does seem to love the colors. He's also durable, and a real professional.
Considering most players take a half a season to a season to adjust to a new team, tactics, mentality etc. I think he has done very, very well. A little concerned about his defending at times but I don't think there is a better option out there. To get the best you have to pay for them and given his age and the fact he can play on for at least another 8 - 10 years we will probably be calling him a bargain within 2 years. Deserves a 10 for me.
