Messi will be offered renewal until 2016

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona wants to extend the contract of Barcelona right wing attacker and Argentinian international Lionel Messi (22) until 2016.

Although the renewal negotiations would already be well-advanced and Messi would get a pay rise and a buyout clause of 200 million euros, the club would now also want to propose the player - when he returns from South-America - to extend the duration of his current contract, that expires in 2014, for two more years.

He just restructured for higher pay and a buyout of 300 mil...this seems odd...the board would want him to be the most expensive player therefore a buyout of 200 would be out of the question since ibra's is 250...but i am positive he restructured not to long ago..till 2014...10 mil a year...300 mil buyout

I am against this every year's contract renewing. If this continue, Messi will be earning 500K a week in 2014. Don't get me wrong, it is nothing against our beloved Messi. I think it is the buyout clause they are worried about. The sheiks are crazy enough to offer that kind of money but that doesn't mean Messi will accept that.

It's because Zlatan now earns more than him, while there's some kind of silent agreement Messi should be the top earner.

Well, I think that someday we should get a big $$tchitching$$ for Leos services. I mean, hes a true Barca player but why shouldnt he try his luck at a another team, to prove that he can be the best wherever he plays. It would be magical if Leo for exempel, would go 2 lets say Newcastle in a few years, and give Castle the PL title and a CL title, in that way he would be imortal and we could get a transferfee of 120milj Euro or so. I wouldnt mind do that in 5 years. Would u guys=?
