Youth: Stefan Ilic (MF Pelister)

Swedish fifth division club MF Pelister has officially announced that Pelister player Stefan Ilic (17) is in Barcelona for a test.

Pelister official Djoko Korlevski told Trelleborgs and Vellinge local newpaper Trelleborgs Allehanda that the test will last for one week: "We indeed received a request from a Barcelona scout here in Scandinavia, and of course we gave Stefan the permission to go there. Stefan travelled to Spain last Sunday and will stay in Barcelona for eight days."

The paper reports that Ilic grew up in Sweden but travelled to his parents' home country Serbia when he was 14 years old for an AC Milan talent camp in Belgrade. Although he didn't get selected, he stayed in Belgrade and joined OFK Beograd for two and a half year, after which he returned to Sweden. Earlier this summer, Ilic has been testing with Swedish first division club Malmö that offered him a contract.

Är han svensk eller serb? Kan va kul att veta för oss som hoppas på nya svenska talanger.

Is he swedish or Serbian, interesting to know for us that hope for new Swedish talents? And if they are raised in the football school of Barcelona, so much better.

WOW...I can't believe there is a swedish football club called Pelister.

Pelister is the highest mountain in my country (Macedonia) and those red and yellow stripes symbolize the Macedonian flag.

I guess the team was formed by Macedonians.

Overraskende mange skandinaver her, godt å se at Manu-filien begynner å gi seg!

Surprisingly high amount of Scandinavians here, good to see that the Man U-philia is going away!

So, according to FIFA's rules he would be able to choose if he wanna play for Serbia or Sweden in the national team, if he is good enough eventually. I hope he picks Sweden. More importantly however, is that Barça gets the best of him! Visca Barça!

It's not unusual with these kind of clubs in scandinavia. They are formed by immigrants in areas mostly populated by immigrants.

Other examples is Vatanspor, a turkish/danish club in Århus, Denmark and Assyriska, a swedish/assyrian club in Södertälje, Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyriska_FF)

Often these will have a social agenda as well, much like Barca.

MF Pelister is a club in Sweden in division 3. That was renamed in the 90's to Pelister from the original name Jugoslavia 70. So the club goes way back. Remarkable is that Pelister played in the 7th division à few years back and has climbed almost Every year in the 2000's. The team has several nationality players among the team where several macedonians are amongst the team as well. The player Stefan Ilic has done à really good spring season, where the last games he held class way above div 3. He is really technical and is an all rounder but his real break Came as an outer midfielder. Wish all the best to Stefan. Kind regards Pelister Ultras Trelleborg Sweden

Thanks for the inside info...

But isn't Divison 3 actually the fifth highest level. To make things clear for everyone, I just count down from top league, so if they are in Dvision 3 Södra Götaland, that would be fifth division/level according to:

Thats right. In Sweden it is like this : 1 st division: Allsvenskan. 2nd division: Superettan. 3rd division: division 1. 4th division: division 2. And as stated division 5 is division 3 as of Pelisters position. Stefan was training one week for Malmö FF (1 st division) youth in the summer and à fc Barcelona scout spotted him. From div 5 to div 1 to la liga??

I guess he would first go to Barcelona Atletic, the B-team that plays in Spanish third division. Or even the Juvenil youth team.

So what position does he play in?

Marws said...

fcbee I don't think atlétic, He is only 14 years old.. And he plays in Swedens 5:th best league. Beeing from sweden I can say itäs not a good league, but it doesn't mean he isn't any good... But If it will happen it will be in juvenil to start with.

If you count the divisions it can be said that it is the 5th division but that is not entirely true and comparable with other countries. Some yeares ago Division 3 was the 3rd division, but they made more division (by making them with less teams) so teams would have to travel so long. Each division has 12 teams, to compare with Spain, where there are 20. 5th division sound very little, but sine the divisions are so small, I would say that it can be compared to 3rd league in other countries.
