Txiki confirms transfer Chygrynskiy

Speaking to journalists before travelling with the team to Monaco for the European Super Cup game, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has confirmed the transfer of Shakhtar Donetsk defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chygrynskiy (22):

"Chygrynskiy will come and I'm sure he'll be very good with us. The deal is not yet closed, although we are well-advanced. We will leave things until after the game. We think that is the best way. I don't think there will be any problems, it's just about the sporting logics.

Pep wants a centre-back, he likes this one and after we have tried to lower the price, we have insisted. Since the previous season ended in Ukraine, we have been trying to sign him. It's a key position for our attacking way of playing. He fits the profile we were looking for, it's someone with good heading qualities, who pushes up to midfield and can help in building up from behind.

We're aware that he won't be able to take part in the Champions League but he's 22 years old and I hope he will be able to do it for the next ten seasons, so in the end he will be a cheap player. If he plays a lot of games and wins a lot of trophies, we will have bought him for almost nothing."

I wonder why Txiki travels along with the squad wherever they visit! Can't he just stay at the home and do his work!? That too when we still need reinforcements in a winger!?

Only ome piece missing now... Sign Mancini on loan for one year to have an extra option on the flangs and thats it.. The team is 100% ready

Or is he trying to snatch that Willian guy as well!? There was some speculation by sport some time back, right!?

I think it is chig-grins-ky.
Anyway, i'm looking forward to the season. maybe one or two transfers are missing. CM? I would like Barca to go for Arteta, he is class. I'm sure he would get in the Spain squad if he joined Barca. Great dribbler, passer and shooter. He is also a setpiece specialist. I reckond he will not be another "Hleb failure" because he has the composure and technique to play in Spanish league and in the Barca midfield.

I still thinks that we should have gave hleb a chance after his disastrous season because he did not have much playing time to adapt and was injured. Henry did not have a great first season, but he had playing time therefore were able to adapt in the next season.

Herique should definitely be loaned out to Racing in order to get playing time and adapt to Spanish football. The transfer of Chygrynskiy would practically mean no playing time for Henrique and Milito as Puyol, Chygrinskiy, Pique and Marquez would be rotated for CB and Pep seemed keen to give Muniesa and Fontas playing time.

In two years time, if Pep is still our coach, I expect Henrique, Caceres and Milito to be sold and Muniesa and Fontas would be promoted. So our CB to be like this: Chygrinskiy, Puyol and Pique have most playing time and Marquez, Muniesa and Fontas will get some minutes. All of the CBs except Fontas are technical and likes to push up. This is what Guardiola wants our CBs to be, technical and pushes up to support the midfield.

There's little chance will sign another player. The transfer window closes in the next few days.

Oh, and Arteta is a Barca youth product so of course he'll have the composure and technique to play for Barca.

Without jokes, it's a great purchase. He is real fantastic defender, was one of our best players alongside with Srna... Pity he's leaving and congratulations to Barca!

Man,do I feel like a retard now...I always thought "Dima" stood for Angel Di Maria :D

I think Liverpool also was interested in him but he said he only wanted to go to Barca

He is very good in passing the ball forward and also pretty strong in the air. His biggest weaknes is his lack of speed in my opinion

Usually the best central defenders are not fast, because they learn to position themselves better when they are not fast, while fast central defenders tend to lack marking and positioning.

But tell us more anony! What is his personality like, compared to Hleb for example, and tell us more about his abilities please. :)

Robben off to Bayern! He didn't stay in Madrid, as you told us he would barca4life. :)

Did Txiki confirm any thing about signing any reinforcement for our LW position?

even without any other clubs competing for him we pay 25m euros for a completely unproven defender in an inferior league while inter pay 15m euros for world class player (sneider). imagine if even two clubs had been competing for him we wud have ended up paying 50m. seriously txiki ur a retard n a moron n teh worst sporting director in teh world teh only one saving ur ass is pep.
Txiki: this is barca teh most charitable organisation in teh world anyone wanting r players r free to have them at teh lowest rates in teh market including schemes but dont worry if we want your player we will pay 10 times teh market rate."
pathetic txiki hope u neve come back to barca.
