Alves confirms he will play first league game

Speaking to journalists after yesterday's training session, Barcelona right back defender Dani Alves has confirmed that he will take part in Barcelona's first league game against Sporting and won't travel early to Brazil:

"I don't see any problem there. Leo will leave before the game and I will leave after the game. For Argentina, Messi is a key player. When he's not there, that has a great influence. My case isn't the same at the Brazilian national team. I'm not a fixed starter, I'm just one of the guys. I wouldn't make a big deal of this."

Guys, look at this. I too think Spurs got a valuable lesson from the pre-season match-up as can be seen from their current play. I guess Harry likes what he sees.

alves should be starting for brazil.he is the best right back in the world.i still dont see why messi cant play with us on monday and go to argentina later....we wont have any problems winning but it would be great to have the full team for the debut

Messi requested that he may be allowed to leave early for the international game because its pretty much a do or die situation for argentina. If they lose to brazil , and equador win , they will overtake them in the qualification standings with few games to go. And it will be difficult from there on because Argentina have tougher fixtures than equador and columbia etc.. Thats why he requested guardiola he could be rested and go early to play for his country. Very admirable and Pep is also very understanding. !
PS :IM an Argentine fan , hope they win :D

I don't think Alves is really needed at Brasil. The only thing I saw him do was that free kick goal in Confederations, but I also don't see many Brasil games.

What is happening to Argentina they have one of the best talented squads like La Madre Patria but they are struggling?!?!?! What is Maradona doing to them??? Don't get me wrong I respect Maradona for the legend he is but as a coach??? I think Argentina would do anything to get Pep..

Alvez is an exceptional player and deserves more time with the Brazilian team but the reason he does not play regularly is because Dunga trusts Maicon more. Alvez is great attacking but sometimes he leaves his rearguard unprotected and that is something Dunga does not like about him.
